For this project I designed a book cover for Infinite City by Rebecca Solnit. My aim was to accurately capture the ideas and themes of this book using primarily typographic elements. Since Infinite City is a series of maps detailing different unique qualities and features of San Francisco, I wanted my cover to capture the essence of the city in an abstract way. For the title, I created 3D isometric letters to represent buildings, and I added the bumpy, organic shapes behind the letters using colors based on old Victorian row homes. I wanted the letters to represent the techy, urban aspect of San Francisco and how that contrasts with the artistic, natural side, represented by the shapes.
